This Privacy Policy explains how Free Measure On Image ("we", "us") collects, uses, and protects your information when you use free-measure-on-image.com (the "Service"). By using the Service, you agree to the practices described in this policy.

1. Who we are

Free Measure On Image is a free browser-based tool for drawing calibrated measurements (lines, areas, angles, and text) on an uploaded image. If you have any questions about this policy or your personal data, you can contact us at contact@free-measure-on-image.com.

2. How the Service handles your image

By default, the Service runs entirely in your browser: an image you upload is processed on your device, is never sent to our servers, and any project you save without an account is written to a .json file on your own device.

If you create an account and choose to save a project to it, that project — including the image itself, encoded as base64 text — is uploaded to and stored on our servers so you can load it again later or from another device. This is the one case where your image leaves your browser, and we only do it when you explicitly choose "save to account".

3. Information we collect

We collect the following categories of information:

  • Account information: the name and email address you provide when registering, or the name, email, and profile picture provided by Google or Facebook if you sign in with those providers.
  • Project data (account users only): the names, calibration settings, measurement elements, and images of projects you explicitly save to your account.
  • Local device storage: your authentication session, theme preference, language preference, and cookie-consent choice, stored in your browser's local storage (not as cookies).

4. How we use your information

We use your information to:

  • Provide, operate, and maintain the Service, including your account and any projects you save to it.
  • Authenticate you and keep you signed in.
  • Remember your preferences (theme, language).
  • Communicate with you about your account, when necessary.

5. Legal basis for processing (EEA/UK users)

Where applicable, we process your data on the following legal bases: performance of a contract (to provide the Service you requested), and legitimate interest (to keep the Service secure and functioning).

6. Sharing of information

We do not sell your personal data. We may share limited information with:

  • Google or Facebook, if you choose to sign in using those providers (standard OAuth data exchange).
  • Hosting and infrastructure providers who process data on our behalf, under appropriate confidentiality obligations.
  • Authorities, where required by law.

7. Data retention

We retain your account data, including any projects and images saved to it, for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we delete or anonymize your personal data within a reasonable period, except where retention is required by law.

8. Your rights

Depending on your location, you may have the right to access, correct, or delete the personal data we hold about you, to restrict or object to its processing, to request data portability, and to withdraw consent at any time. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority (for example, the Polish Personal Data Protection Office, UODO, if you are located in Poland).

9. Cookies and local storage

The Service does not use tracking cookies and does not currently run any analytics. It uses browser local storage only for essential functionality. See our Cookie Policy for details.

10. Children's privacy

The Service is not directed at children under 16. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data without appropriate consent, please contact us so we can remove it.

11. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will update the "Last updated" date above when we do.
